6 Questions for Victoria Polevá
An Interview
Victoria Polevá is one of six composers involved in the commissioned composition Credo. Six Composers – Six Parts – One Christian Faith. Fittingly, she answers six questions for us in this interview.
What was your first composition?
It’s difficult for me to pinpoint precisely. I recall listening to the piano’s resonance harmonizing with my voice. This was a genuine process of composing music when I was 5-6 years old.
Which other composers inspire you?
I find inspiration in the very concept that humans can create music.
Your most emotional musical experience to date?
It was a night spent in a percussion studio. Each of the instruments revealed itself with remarkable melodiousness – like a living being.
Where do you prefer to compose?
I compose everywhere.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently working on a new ballet about the humanization of a forest creature. Additionally, I’m writing a new choral work based on a prayer text.
When you’re not composing or making music, then…
I travel to the Himalayas, where I also compose and create music.
Et resurrexit
