Stephan Görg is a versatile musician who composes in almost all genres. His work Elements has been published by Carus.

Your first composition:

“A Life On The Ocean Wave” for mixed choir (a cappella).

Which other composers inspire you?

Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Maurice Ravel, Keith Jarrett, Sting.

Your most emotional musical experience to date?

Putting together my first concert with Vocal Journey (the jazz and pop choir of the Cologne University of Music and Dance) and my band after the pandemic in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, as conductor, composer, arranger and pianist!

Where is your favourite place to compose?

In a holiday home near the sea in North Holland.

Your current composition project:

“Memories Of Tomorrow, a twelve-movement concert suite for jazz trio on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett”.

There will also be an extended version of this piece for jazz trio and orchestra in close collaboration with Bernd Wilden, who is writing the orchestral material (world premiere in February 2025).

If you don’t compose or play music, then …

… I enjoy having a good conversation with a small group of family and/or good friends over a delicious meal and a refreshing drink.
